Timmy is mainly interested in cities and population. Particularly, he's interested in using applied statistics, GIS, network methodologies, and big data science to analyze the urban landscape (e.g., spatial segregation, migration flows, urbanization processes, etc.). As such, his primary sub-areas are urban sociology, demography, and social data analytics.
Timmy was a predoctoral trainee for the NSF Big Data Social Science IGERT, 2014-2016. He has worked or interned at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at University College London, the Pew Research Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, the Population Research Center at UT-Austin, and the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
