Professional Bio
My research explores the role of the social environmental context on the formation and enforcement of hegemonic ideologies and perceptions concerning physical appearances and bodies through a sociological perspective. I focus on a variety of body weight-related outcomes that range from those that are socially constructed (body weight social norms) to direct physical measures (overweight/obesity rates). I am interested in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, especially those that implement a life course approach.
