Anna Burger named Alumni Fellow

Anna Burger, 1972 Sociology Alumnus, was honored for her outstanding professional accomplishments andgiven the lifelong title of Alumni Fellow, the highest award given by the Penn State Alumni Association. Anna received the award on October 10. While on campus she met with students and faculty in the Department of Sociology and Crime, Law & Justice as well as the Department of Political Science.

Hailed by Gannett as "the most influential woman in the U.S. labor movement" and named as one of Washingtonian's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2006, Anna Burger is both a top ranking officer at SEIU, the nation's largest and fastest growing union, and the first chair of America's newest labor federation, Change to Win. As the Chair of Change to Win, Burger is the first woman to lead an American labor coalition.
