Karina is currently working as a Professor of Human Development and Family Science at Oklahoma State University. The substantive focus of her work reflects her interest in decisions and behaviors regarding childbearing and the relationships among childbearing, work, and well-being. She studies the factors behind childbearing decisions (or lack thereof) and the circumstances that assist or prevent both women and men in meeting their intentions or plans. Dr. Shreffler's research focuses on three general themes: 1) understanding factors that impact fertility on a macro scale; 2) examining the role of contextual factors in both childbearing decisions and outcomes; and 3) examining reproductive issues (such as infertility and inequality) and their consequences.
