Facebook (Growth Population and Survey Science Team)

I am a quantitative researcher working on the Growth Population and Survey Science team at Facebook. My research focuses on understanding the social and cultural barriers to Internet use in developing countries. More broadly, I’m interested in how new technologies both changes social life and are adapted to fit long-standing cultural norms. I received my PhD in Sociology and Demography from Penn State University, where I studied extended family child care systems in sub-Saharan Africa. There I was also part of longitudinal data collection project in southern Malawi focused on understanding how young adults navigate romantic relationships in a generalized AIDS epidemic. I hold a BA in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College and have previously worked in the fields of international development and market research.
