Congratulations to Criminology graduate students Julia Dillavou, Yiwen Zhang, and Iman Said on your recent awards!

We are pleased to announce that several of our Criminology graduate students have won awards from the American Society of Criminology (ASC) and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR).

Julia Dillavou won the 2022 ASC Division of Women and Crime Graduate Scholar Award. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of graduate students to the field of women and crime, both in their published work and their service to the Division on Women and Crime.

Yiwen Zhang won the 2022 ASC Benjamin Steiner Excellence in Corrections Student Paper Competition for her thesis, “Did the Prison Industrial Complex Deliver on Its Promise? Prison Proliferation and Employment in Rural America.”

Iman Said won the SSSR 2022 Student Paper Award-Published, for the manuscript, "A Mixed Method Evaluation of the Role of Religion in Desistance and Reentry." This manuscript was co-authored with Department of Sociology and Criminology alumnus Kimberly Davidson, who is now an Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University.
