Kira England lead a paper that will be published in Social Problems with faculty co-authors Ashton Verdery, Liying Luo, and former Penn State Rural Sociology faculty member Shannon Monnat.
Kayla Kemp received the Research in Democracy Support Grant ($4,700) from the McCourtney Institute for Democracy. She plans to use the money to conduct interviews for her dissertation this summer.
Jessica Mongilio accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for the Study of Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking and Health at the University of Michigan.
Ashley Rodriguez received a summer CJRC grant for the project, "Who's On Your Case? An Examination of Pennsylvania Courtroom Workgroups."
Cayley Ryan-Claytor and Ashton Verdery published a research note titled, “A Novel Sullivan Method Projection Framework With Application to Long COVID" in Demography.
Cayley also was an author on a 2024 WIC Report that was released by the USDA's Economic Research Service last month. It's the first comprehensive report on the program in eight years and was released as full program funding reauthorization is being considered as part of the 2024 Farm Bill.
Esmeralda Salazar was awarded an Honorable Mention for Dissertation of the Year for the Religion and Education Section of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
Lecinda Yevchak and Ashley Yinger took their undergraduate CRIM 430 students to visit Rockview.
